Host Question: What is an associate’s degree in nutrition science? How long would that take to get kinda what topics are you learning and what types of jobs would you be available to with just an associate’s level?
Guest Answer: Usually for an associate degree, it’s a two year college program. You’re still gonna have a heavy focus on nutrition science and the big overarching pieces of, you know, vitamins, minerals, macronutrients, how they work in your body, disease conditions, And individuals who pursue an associate degree in nutrition probably come out and work within a hospital or a nursing home or a similar environment as a diet tech or a diet technician.
Guest Answer: And they’re basically an assistant. To the registered dietitians. So they might be working with a patient, collecting some meal history, what they normally eat what they had had issues with in the past and share that information with the dietitian to then have her or him do the full nutrition assessment. So they’re they’re a compliment to the dietitian a shorter degree program.

Guest Answer: This type of degree is gonna prepare you well to be a diet clerk or dietary aid, which are typically stationed in hospitals, and they work with the food nutrition services of the hospital. You can be giving basic nutrition education or recommendations with that degree program.
Guest Answer: When an associate’s degree is generally a two year program. For nutrition, it would generally be like basic health and wellness kinds of things.
Guest Answer: It could help you with some entry level jobs, I would assume in like health education or wellness just kind of basic stuff where you could use that but not necessarily like the science based stuff as in-depth anyway.
