Host Question: What is applied clinical nutrition degree programs?

Guest Answer: I would say if you were getting a degree in nutrition and you would have an area of emphasis and applied clinical nutrition, versus having a degree of that title. Maybe some institutions offer that. I would think it would be an area of emphasis, and that’s really working more on clinical nutrition, what you would see within the hospital environment where you have critically ill or very ill patients that need more nutrition intervention than, hey, let’s just cut out the soft drinks in your diet. So it’s a whole different level of nutrition and a different focus than say someone who’s working in the community.

Guest Answer: So type of degree programs prepare you specifically for working in a hospitalized population, whereas some of the other degree programs are kind of they expose you to various facets of nutrition, so community nutrition, school nutrition, clinical nutrition community, whereas an applied program is gonna focus more so directly on, like, you working in a hospital or clinical setting.
