Host Question: What is a dietetics degree program?

Guest Answer: A dietetics degree program. Is a nutrition degree. You’re learning about how nutrition and nutrients affect health, metabolism, disease, how to use nutrition, to help people get better, all different types of, like, disease populations you’re learning how to counsel people for things like eating disorders, medical conditions, if you were gonna work in the hospital with different populations. So like somebody with kidney disease or cancer or just the elderly learning how nutrition can be tailored to each of those unique groups.

Guest Answer: The main difference I would say with like a nutrition and dietetics degree would that be that it’s confirming that those DPD level courses that you need to apply to a dietetic internship are going to be included in your coursework. So that type of program would kind of ensure that the required classes that you need to become a dietitian are included in your program.

Guest Answer: Nutrition and dietetics degree programs are pretty much one and the same, and it will say either a master or bachelor of science in nutrition.

Guest Answer: Or nutrition and dietetics. So really, in my mind, I don’t see any difference between the terminology. They’re one in the same leading you towards that path of becoming a dietitian or similar higher level nutritionist. So heavy science, heavy nutrition, really no differences between the two.
