Host Question: Is there such a thing as like a certified nutritionist versus just someone who says they’re a nutritionist? Is there like certification.

Guest Answer: You can be a certified nutritionist and that pathway takes a master’s degree program and then supervised practice hours. Once you kind of complete the supervised practice hours, a degree program, then you can sit for the exam and become certified.

Guest Answer: As far as a certified nutritionist, less familiar with the different agencies that may certify you. Unlike registration, I think it’s a pretty open process. There’s lots of certifications you can get. Unfortunately, there’s not the accreditation behind them. Looking more towards what their background has been versus getting a title certified So a company nutritionist really warrants further investigation to what they bring to the table for their background.

Guest Answer: It’s called the certified nutrition specialist credential from the American Nutrition Association.

Guest Answer: It seems very similar, so they either want you to have an advanced degree or be a dietitian. It’s similar you take an exam, and then you have to do continuing education credits to maintain it. But I don’t know a lot about it.
